The documentary features performances by the Patti Smith Group, New York Dolls, Talking Heads, Ramones, Heartbreakers, Blondie and Television and others. In addition to the central clubs CBGB and Max's Kansas City, the film was also shot in the Chelsea Hotel and in the loft inhabited by Debbie Harry and Chris Stein. Blondie's demo tapes "Platinum Blonde" and the Shangri-Las' cover "Out in the Streets" can be heard. (hjf)
